Breakfast In the Garden

Nowadays, I leave for office around 6:30a.m. so that I can get a free parking space opposite the office. Today, I reached around office slightly before 7a.m. and managed to get a parking space opposite one row of double storey house in front of a small garden. It’s a shady place and a perfect place to park my car, especially I did not have to pay a penny. As usual, there was an Indian lady sweeping the street around the garden. A few men and women, who most likely had retired, were having their morning exercise.

It was raining this morning. I had my breakfast in my car with my mp3 player playing the songs that I enjoyed while driving to and from the office. Today, I was having oat porridge in a plastic glass (a gift from purchasing Milo). I was reading a book that I borrowed from the National Library last Saturday. I enjoyed this moment of quiteness before starting another busy day.

Then, I saw a foreigner – a thin, young male with brown hair carrying a plastic folding table from one of the double storey house. He unlocked the gate, placed the table at the side, and locked the gate. He placed the table next to my car. He walked back in. When he was back from the house, he brought with him a cloth, a box of cereal and a loaf of bread. He carried the table and unfolded it on the grass of the garden, under a tree right next to my parking space. The cloth was spread over the folding table. He placed the cereal and the bread on the table. He went back into the house again. This time he brought two metal chairs and placed them next to the table opposite each other. He went back into the house again. I noticed that each time he came out and enter the house, he would unlock and locked the gate. I guess it is not a very secured neighbourhood.

By this time, it was already 7:20a.m. and I had finished reading a short story from the book. It was time for me to go to the office. I wanted to stay to see this romantic man and the lucky lady, who would join him later, having their lovely breakfast in the small garden in the middle of the city centre. I left for the office. I did not want to disturb the couple because I was very close to the spot this man picked. I was impressed with the effort that he was taking. He must have loved the lady very much. I think I would like to leave the rest of the story to my imagination – a lovely couple enjoying their breakfast in a garden in the middle of the city.

Life can be so simple and yet happy.

Tongue Out
Tracy,

Garden of Mine

My first blog.

I have been planning to write blogs, posting my thoughts, emotions & feelings somewhere. Not really for sharing. But to "safe-keep" this - Garden of Mine.
